Janbeth - Bourke, NSW

Janbeth covers 10,006 hectares, with 3,185 hectares developed for flood irrigation and 6,846 hectares of grazing land. This broadacre irrigation holding is 15 kilometres south-west of Bourke.

Purchased in 1992, Janbeth has become a key capital asset for Clyde Agriculture’s cotton operations and has also grows wheat, corn, sorghum and chickpea crops. Now operated as one business unit, Janbeth incorporates Ferguson Farms.

Janbeth has approximately 12,800 Ml of water licences on the Darling River and leases a further 1,300 Ml from an adjoining property. The property has an average annual rainfall of around 350mm and boasts the capacity to store 13,300 megalitres, covering an area of 340 hectares plus billabongs. Its significant storage capacity is integral to the operation and profitability of all Clyde Agriculture cotton farms in the Bourke region.

Janbeth has excellent improvements including sheds and quality staff housing and contractors' quarters. Clyde is trialling the use of a 1.5m permanent bed system at Janbeth that are expected to deliver a number of benefits that include higher crop yields and fewer ground engaging tines hence lower tillage costs.
